Visit England has published its February visits statistics, which show lifts in both business nights and spend on 2012.
Business trips were the only ‘trip purpose’ catergory to see increases across all measurements on year-to-date (January – February 2013) figures. Visits were up 4% to 3m from 2.8m, night stays were up 18% from 6 to 7.1m and spend rose 31% to £827m from £633m.
On a comparison of February this year and last year, meanwhile, business trips in England were up 19% to 1.6m from 1.4 last year. Meanwhile, there was an 58% increase in the number of business nights away, up to 4.2m night stays.
